The Almaguin Community Hatchery Program (ACHP) team has a long history of educating people of all ages about responsible hatchery practices, conservation and ecology both at the riverside and in the classroom. We have set up micro hatcheries in our local elementary and secondary schools, giving youth and adults alike a front-row seat and hands-on experience at our cutting-edge mobile hatchery trailer. We are always exploring new and innovative ways to reach our students and the public through our website’s social media pages and by showcasing our mobile hatchery at special events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACHP<\/strong>
Our organization, The Almaguin Community Hatchery Program.

C.D.P.F.<\/strong>
Counter Directional Protein Fractionator – Removes protein particles and waste debris from the water.

Fertilize<\/strong>
A female egg develops a new life by introducing male reproductive material.

Fry Planting<\/strong>
The placement of newly hatched fish eggs in the natural environment.

Hatchery<\/strong>
A place where the hatching of fish eggs is artificially controlled.

Hatching Jar<\/strong>
A bottle used to incubate fish eggs. It is usually set up so that a current of water passes through to remove waste and ensure adequate oxygen levels.

Spawn<\/strong>
To release or deposit eggs.

Stewardship<\/strong>
The job of supervising or taking care of something.

Walleye<\/strong>
A North American pikeperch with large, opaque silvery eyes.

Watershed<\/strong>
